InkTree ("we," "our," or "us") is a reading companion that helps you process, reflect on, and organize your reading history. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

Reading data. You may import your reading history or add books manually. This includes book titles, authors, and metadata. We also store the reviews, ratings, dimension scores, tags, and notes you create within InkTree.

Usage data. We collect anonymous analytics to understand how InkTree is used and to improve the product. This includes page views and interaction events. We do not track you across other websites.

Cookies. We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the InkTree service
  • To authenticate your account and keep your session secure
  • To respond to your questions or support requests
  • To understand usage patterns and improve the product

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your reading data for advertising purposes.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate InkTree:

  • Supabase — database hosting and authentication
  • Vercel — web hosting and anonymous analytics
  • OpenLibrary — book metadata enrichment (covers, publication dates)

These services have their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as you have an active account. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed from our systems.

Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and secure hosting infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

InkTree is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of InkTree after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
